about me

My name is Julia Tymańska. I graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, and while painting remains an important element of my practice, I have always worked across multiple media – from sculpture, installation, and performance to site-specific actions, street art, and experiments with digital technologies, interfaces, AI, and simulation.

I was born in 1997 and I am currently based in Gdańsk, Poland.

I was born at the intersection of the analog and digital worlds – I don’t fully belong to either, but exist somewhere in between. This in-between space has become the foundation of my artistic thinking. In my work,   I explore how technology shapes identity, memory, and presence – both physical and data-based. I'm interested in what remains of us in systems of code, storage, and forgotten information.

I create paintings that resemble system interfaces and digital glitches, patchwork sculptures, fictional archives, and narrative structures that process traces left behind. I often work site-specifically, engaging with local communities and materials gathered through research. My process blends intuition with analysis, technology with emotion.

I create to find out who I am after the next update.
